Field meeting field: nothing competitive about it, and it gets there by accumulation rather than by any single push.

The fire of sun and moon: permanent, overhead, and competing with no one.

In the sixty-pillar cycle each image is shared by exactly two pillars. 己未 shares Fire of the Sky with 戊午, though the two differ in polarity, animal and hidden stems.

Jǐ carries the image of cultivated field soil. That is this pillar's baseline; the branch it is paired with decides the rest.

Wèi is Earth, yin in polarity, and carries the Goat.

Hidden stems: every branch conceals stems of its own, in descending weight — Jǐ Earth (60%), Dīng Fire (30%), Yǐ Wood (10%).
