Wu Wu Day Pillar

Sun beating on rock: the stone takes the heat in by day and gives it back at night. More staying power than it appears to have.

The fire of sun and moon: permanent, overhead, and competing with no one.

In the sixty-pillar cycle each image is shared by exactly two pillars. 戊午 shares Fire of the Sky with 己未, though the two differ in polarity, animal and hidden stems.

Wù carries the image of a mountain. That is this pillar's baseline; the branch it is paired with decides the rest.

Wǔ is Fire, yang in polarity, and carries the Horse.

Hidden stems: every branch conceals stems of its own, in descending weight — Dīng Fire (70%), Jǐ Earth (30%).
