Ren Chen Day Pillar

The sea against a dyke: force contained, and pressure building behind it. Endures a lot, and needs a deliberate outlet before the limit.

A river that runs a long way: never in a hurry, never stopping — distance by persistence.

In the sixty-pillar cycle each image is shared by exactly two pillars. 壬辰 shares The Long River with 癸巳, though the two differ in polarity, animal and hidden stems.

Rén carries the image of a river, the open sea. That is this pillar's baseline; the branch it is paired with decides the rest.

Chén is Earth, yang in polarity, and carries the Dragon.

Hidden stems: every branch conceals stems of its own, in descending weight — Wù Earth (60%), Yǐ Wood (30%), Guǐ Water (10%).
