A river with springs feeding it — the source is clean and it does not run out. This one goes far on supply, not on speed.

Metal hammered to an edge — decisive, and sharp enough to cut the hand that holds it.

In the sixty-pillar cycle each image is shared by exactly two pillars. 壬申 shares Metal of the Blade with 癸酉, though the two differ in polarity, animal and hidden stems.

Rén carries the image of a river, the open sea. That is this pillar's baseline; the branch it is paired with decides the rest.

Shēn is Metal, yang in polarity, and carries the Monkey.
