Ding Wei Day Pillar

A candle in a dry room, giving off heat quietly with nothing to prove. Domestic, and it lasts.

The river of stars — vast, distant, and indifferent to anyone watching it.

In the sixty-pillar cycle each image is shared by exactly two pillars. 丁未 shares Water of the Milky Way with 丙午, though the two differ in polarity, animal and hidden stems.

Dīng carries the image of candlelight. That is this pillar's baseline; the branch it is paired with decides the rest.

Wèi is Earth, yin in polarity, and carries the Goat.
