Geng Xu Day Pillar

Ore in the kiln, surrounded by heat until it becomes something. It can take the process, and the process works.

Metal worked into a hairpin or bracelet: fine, deliberate, and made to be seen.

In the sixty-pillar cycle each image is shared by exactly two pillars. 庚戌 shares Metal of the Ornament with 辛亥, though the two differ in polarity, animal and hidden stems.

Gēng carries the image of unrefined metal — an axe, an ore. That is this pillar's baseline; the branch it is paired with decides the rest.

Xū is Earth, yang in polarity, and carries the Dog.

Hidden stems: every branch conceals stems of its own, in descending weight — Wù Earth (60%), Xīn Metal (30%), Dīng Fire (10%).
