Jia Zi Day Pillar

A tall tree with deep water at its roots: never short of nourishment, and unhurried because of it. Too much water floats the roots, though — sure footing can quietly become refusal to move.

Metal still on the seabed: valuable, but not yet brought up into the light.

In the sixty-pillar cycle each image is shared by exactly two pillars. 甲子 shares Gold in the Sea with 乙丑, though the two differ in polarity, animal and hidden stems.

Jiǎ carries the image of a tall standing tree. That is this pillar's baseline; the branch it is paired with decides the rest.
