Yi You Day Pillar

A vine climbing a wire fence: the thing it leans on is the thing cutting into it. Support and constraint are not separable here.

A spring: not a lot of water, but it never stops, and it comes up clean.

In the sixty-pillar cycle each image is shared by exactly two pillars. 乙酉 shares Water of the Spring with 甲申, though the two differ in polarity, animal and hidden stems.

Yǐ carries the image of a climbing vine. That is this pillar's baseline; the branch it is paired with decides the rest.

Yǒu is Metal, yin in polarity, and carries the Rooster.
