Direct Resource (正印)

One of the Ten Gods in BaZi, the Chinese Four Pillars of Destiny

Resource — what generates youwhat generates you, opposite polarityopposite polarity

Nourishment again, in its orthodox form. Direct Resource is the mother, the teacher, the qualification, the good name — what protects you, teaches you, and lets you feel backed. People with it carry a certain unhurriedness, because something is behind them.

Strengths

  • Learns well and reads deeply
  • Composed; does not lose face easily
  • Trusted on sight

Where it costs you

What Direct Resource gives is shelter, and shelter held too long softens the will to act. Ability was never the shortage — the push of having no other option is.

Too much, too little

Too much: Dependent, slow to move, everything considered and nothing started.

Too little: No backing, and it shows: nothing quite feels solid underneath.

No god here is lucky or unlucky — only abundant or scarce. The same one can be support or burden depending on the balance of the whole chart.

How this differs from Indirect Resource (偏印)

Direct Resource (正印) and Indirect Resource (偏印) are both Resource — what generates you; the only difference is polarity — this one is what generates you, opposite polarity, the other what generates you, same polarity. Matching polarity repels and opposing polarity attracts, which is why this god acts more moderately and with more reason.

Which stem is your Direct Resource (正印)?

A god is defined relative to your Day Master, so the same stem plays a different god for different people. By Day Master:
